St Andrews University – CL III Facility with SR3 Rating
Bassaire successfully completed the fit-out of the entire containment level III facility which included the following; lining to perimeter walls, construction of SR walls, finishes to floors, walls and ceilings, doors and vision panels, lab benching, sinks and wash hand basins, hot / cold water supply and drainage, condensate and CO2 inlets for incubators, lighting and power.
Air supply for the suite is provided by a dedicated air handling unit installed in the newly constructed plant room which also houses a standby generator. Bassaire also supplied and installed 4 no. Class II ducted safety cabinets and the exhaust flues to roof level.
On completion of the project the facility underwent a thorough commissioning process which included tests such as, testing the air tightness of the entire suite and airlock.
Bradford University - Cleanroom Facility ISO Class 8
The University of Bradford are a key member of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in Polymer Science and Technology, founded to strengthen and coordinate research and development activity within the field of Polymer Engineering Technology in U.K Universities. Bassaire successfully enhanced the old facilities by designing and constructing a new ISO class 8 Cleanroom in the existing WB13 area.
The upgraded facilities have created a safer handling of a wider range of polymer compounds and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), while also improving environmental conditions conducive to supporting Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). This in turn has give rise to more opportunities for further process and product development activities and enhanced the contribution of the organisation within the field of Polymer Engineering research.
The facility covers an area of just over 160m2 and consists of a Nano Composites room, Reactive Extrusion room, PHARMA Extrusion room, Prep rooms and change areas.
The University of Edinburgh - GMP Suite and Chemistry Laboratory
The purpose of these projects was to produce a PET facility for the production of the positron-emitting compound Flucis. The radioactive substance decays quickly and is effective for a short period of time and so therefore be produced in a manufacturing site near the PET scanner.

The facility was required to comply with MHRA guidelines for Pharmaceutical manufacturing, the Radiation Protection Advisor(RPA) and the Environmental Agency (EA). Supply and installation of the full fit out including all HVAC, electrical and mechanical requirements including terminal HEPA's for the 220m2 EU cGMP Grade C facility.
